QUETTA: The Balochistan government declared a public holiday for educational institutes across the province to mark the birth anniversary of the Poet of East Allama Muhammad Iqbal falling on Wednesday.
“There will be public holiday in Balochistan on the occasion of Iqbal Day in schools and colleges,” a spokesman for the Balochistan government said.
The spokesman, however, said that all offices would remain open.
Balochistan is the second province after Sindh to declare holiday in schools and colleges.
On the other hand, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and federal government said that it would be business as usual and that there won’t be any holiday.
A notification circulated in this regard on social media was found to be forged.
Azad Jammu & Kashmir government Tuesday announced to cancel the gazetted holiday on Iqbal Day falling on November 9, it was officially announced.
According to an official notification issued by Services and General Administration Department of AJK government there would be no official holiday in AJK on November 9 on account of Iqbal Day being observed on Wednesday, to mark the birth anniversary of the Poet of East Allama Iqbal.
