ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s first ever Thai-Hindu female Senator Krishna Kumari Kohli is set to preside today’s Upper House senate session coinciding with the International Women’s Day.
Senator Faisal Javed Khan tweets,“Chairman Senate of Pakistan decided to make our colleague Krishna Kumari Kohli aka Kishoo Bai to Chair the Senate for today on Women’s Day.”

39-year old Kohli, a leader of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), hails from Nagarparkar, a village located in Tharparkar and is first-ever Pakistani Senator from a lower strata of Hindu community. Nagarparkar is a place where most women are unable to access life’s basic necessities.
International Women’s Day is annually observed on March 8 globally.
Aurat March 2019 is scheduled to take place all across Pakistan in celebration of International Women’s Day.
