FIFA restores Pakistan Football Federation’s membership

Web Desk: FIFA has restored the membership of Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) today which was suspended last year in October due to political interference.

The membership of PFF was suspended last year in October due to “undue third-party interference.”

On October 11, 2017, the FIFA took this decision as a result of the fact that the PFF offices and its accounts remain in control of a court-appointed administrator, which constitutes a violation of the PFF obligations to manage its affairs independently and without influence from any third parties in accordance with the FIFA Statutes.

The suspension will be lifted once the PFF offices and access to the PFF accounts are returned to the PFF, the statement further read.

Following its suspension, the PFF has lost all its membership rights as defined in art. 13 of the FIFA Statutes. The PFF’s national and affiliated club teams are no longer entitled to take part in international competitions until the suspension is lifted.

Since Pakistan failed to qualify for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, but last month FIFA World Cup Trophy landed in Pakistan.

Pakistan wasn’t a stop on the quadrennial Trophy Tour since 2006 but the World Cup Trophy make an appearance in Lahore on February 3 on its journey to the FIFA World Cup in Russia in June this year.
