SHARJAH: Skipper Aaron Finch and Opener Usman Khawaja on Sunday fetched Australia an easy 8 wicket victory in the second one day international at the Sharjah cricket stadium.
Finch scored his 13th ODI century and remain not out scoring 153, he was well assisted by opener Usman Khawaja who scored fierce 88 runs. Khawaja’s wicket was first to fall at 36.4 overs when Aussies were 209. Finch, in the first ODI, has scored a century and played a vital part in his team’s victory in the first ODI as well.
Spinner Yasir Shah remained the only Pakistani bowler to get a wicket while debutant Mohammad Hasnain failed to make an impact.
Mohammad Rizwan scored his maiden century with 115 runs, he was well partnered with skipper Shaoib Malik with 60. After dismissals of Rizwan and Malik, Faheem Asshraf and Imad Wasim tried hard to bring momentum but got restricted to 284-7.
Richardson and Coulter-Nile took two wickets each while Lyon, Zampa and the Skipper got one wicket each.
Australia’s second consecutive victory bring series to 2-0 as things does not look bright for the green shirts. Malik had earlier said that he trusts his bowling squad to get early wickets of Australian batsman in order to claim victory to level the series 1-1.
