SHARJAH: Australia defeated Pakistan by eight wickets as Skipper Aaron Finch and Shaun Marsh brought Australia steadily close to Pakistan’s hefty 180-5 on Friday at Sharjah in the first one day international as Harris Sohail scores a maiden century remained Pakistan’s only top scorer of the day.
Finch scored 116 before being dismissed by Mohammad Abbas, he was well assisted by Marsh who remain on the wicket till the end of the game with 91 runs off 102 balls.
Usman Khwaja scored 24 while Peter Handscomb scored 30 off 27 balls. Mohammad Abbas and Faheem Ashraf both took one wicket each.
Australian fast bowler Nathan Coulter-Nile took two important wickets while Umar Akmal came two runs short of his fifty while skipper Malik remained unable to score big.
Richardson, Lyon and Maxwell dismissed one Pakistani batsmen each. Besides Sohail, Umar Akmal made the second highest score for Pakistani batting side with 48 runs followed by Shan Masood with 40 runs off 62 balls.
