ISLAMABAD: Federal Government decided to ban broadcasting of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in Pakistan, Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said on Wednesday in a reprisal move to India’s ban on broadcasting Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches in India.
Summary for the imposing of ban has been sent to the cabinet based upon reasoning that Pakistan Electronic Media Regulation Authority (PEMRA) will make sure that no channel will broadcast the IPL matches in Pakistan. Upon the approval of the cabinet the ban will be fully imposed.
Info Minster said Pakistan tried to keep politics away from sports. India will suffer loss as a result of the ban.
The move come a day after hosting of Tennis Junior World Cup was taken away from India for denying visa to Pakistani players.The hosting of Junior Federation Cup was also taken away from India.
