Handshake controversy: Glenn Maxwell apologizes to Sarfraz Ahmed after social media backlash

Web Desk: Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has apologized to Pakistani captain Sarfraz Ahmed as he refused to shake hands with him reportedly in the final match of the tri-series played on Sunday.

The series that saw Pakistan emerge victorious had apparently made all-rounder Maxwell upset, as number of social media users, sports journalists and former cricketers criticised him vehemently.

In a tweet, Maxwell said that the incident “appears unsportsmanlike… but it was a genuine oversight” and that “I am currently looking for Sarfraz in the hotel to shake his hand”.

In a video circulating on social media, players can be seen shaking hands after the match but Maxwell apparently refused to do it with Sarfraz.
