Karachi Kings and Islamabad United to fight for PSL Final spot tonight

Web Desk: Karachi Kings will face Islamabad United in first playoff of the Pakistan Super League third edition (PSL3) at Dubai Cricket Stadium on Sunday.


Both teams understanding the benefits of a victory as it will land them directly in the final of the PSL to be played in National Stadium Karachi on March 25.

On the other hand losing team will play the winner of Peshawar Zalmi vs Quetta Gladiators eliminator game in Lahore.

On Friday Karachi Kings thrashed Islamabad United by seven wickets spoiling Multan Sultans’ chances to qualify for playoffs.

Peshawar Zalmi also qualified for playoffs courtesy Kamran Akmal’s unbeaten and maiden century of PSL 3 propelled Zalmi to register a 7 wicket win over Lahore Qalandars on Friday.

Former champions Islamabad United is a table topper with 14 points. They have won 7 and lost 3 out of their 10 matches.

Karachi Kings, at second position, have won 5 and lost 4 matches.

Eoin Morgan will continue to lead the Karachi team in the absence of Imad Wasim, who is advised further rest after injuring himself in Lahore Qalandars’ match.

According to sources, all-rounder Shahid Afridi is doubtful for his PSL team Karachi Kings’ qualifier against Islamabad United due to pain in knees again.
