Pakistan star all-rounder Shahid Afridi reiterated on Friday his stand on leading the team, stating he never ‘went after captaincy’.

Speaking to media, Afridi said every player wanted to lead the squad as a police chief. “I will determine my future, keeping in view my fitness.”  To a question, Afridi said he might ponder over quitting international cricket after the World Cup 2015.

The hard-hitting batsman had also recently hit headlines when he suggested at his desire to lead the squad as a police chief.

Afridi had come under flak from different local experts for openly expressing his captaincy wish. Nevertheless, some senior cricketers, including Shoaib Akhtar have been rather vocal in backing Afridi as captain for WC 2015.
