Meet the new faces of PSL 3

International players were the reason behind the two successful Pakistan Super league (PSL) editions as well as the interest of spectators.


The players draft for third edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) were held in Lahore on Sunday in which many international players become the part of PSL for the first time.

Here’s a look at players:

Diamond-4-460x256Aussies Left-arm fast bowler Mitchell Johnson was picked from Diamond category by Karachi Kings. An express bowler whose career has consisted of Himalayan peaks and oceanic troughs, Mitchell Johnson at his best was as fearsome as fast bowlers come.

Not surprisingly it led to Johnson winning his first Allan Border Medal, and at the age of 32 he was finally achieving the sorts of feats that Dennis Lillee might have expected when he first spotted Johnson’s talent as a 17-year-old.

Imran-Tahir-of-South-Africa-celebrates57No.2 in ICC ODI bowler rankings & no 5 in Twnety20 rankings, Imran Tahir was picked from platinum category by Multan Sultans.

Imran Tahir was the part of WorldXI team which had visited Pakistan recently.  A feisty character with a celebration longer than most fast-bowlers’ run-ups and a range of variations, Tahir made the googly his biggest weapon in the limited-overs formats. Imran Tahir has took 211 wickets in twenty20.

p5-460x256JP Duminy was picked from platinum category by Islamabad United. A classy left-hander with a full range of shots, JP Duminy’s career has become a story of unfulfilled promise against the backdrop of bad luck with injury. Duminy is best known for his cover drive, square cut, quick wrists and athletic fielding.

With more than a decade of international cricket to his name, his most prized accomplishment was becoming South Africa’s leading T20 run-scorer, in 2013, as well as the first from the country to amass 1500 runs in the format. Duminy has been retired from test cricket but recently he captained his side against Bangladesh in limited overs format.

p7-460x256Christopher Austin Lynn (born 10 April 1990) is an Australian cricketer. Lynn is a right-handed middle order batsman. Australian aggressive player was picked from platinum category by Lahore Qalandars. This move from Lahore Qalandars has increased hopes for their fans.  27-year old Chirs lynn has made 2600 runs in his whole career and smashed 165 sixes.

diamond-3-460x256Carlos Brathwaite was picked from diamond category by Quetta gladiators. Carlos Brathwaite wrote himself into West Indies history books by hitting four successive sixes to finish off England in the last over of the 2016 World T20 final.

D6-460x256Bangladeshi fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman was picked from diamond category by Lahore Qalandars. Mustafizur Rahman is a left-arm pace bowler who came to Dhaka to try out for a fast-bowling camp in 2012, after he had impressed in an Under-17 tournament in Satkhira, some 300km from Dhaka. Mustafizur Rahman has picked 62 Twenty20 wickets in his career.
