Web Desk: Former Pakistani skipper and Cricket committee member Misbah-ul-Haq on Monday comes in support of Skipper Sarfraz Ahmed to remain as captain of the national team till the 2019 World Cup scheduled in England.
“Sarfraz is leading the side from the front and one bad performance doesn’t mean that you start talking about replacing him,” he said while talking to media in Karachi.
Pakistan had won ICC champions trophy and many other tournamnets in the cpatiancy of Sarfreaz Ahmed. “There is no sense to replace captain as we are just months away the start of 2019 World Cup,” he added.
Earlier, PCB chairman Ehsan Mani said that they are not sure whether Sarfraz will lead Pakistan in the world cup or not and they will take this decision after consulting the cricket committee.
“We haven’t made any decision regarding Sarfraz’s future as a captain in World Cup 2019. However, we will review all the suggestions made by the cricket committee in this regard,” Mani was quoted saying.
The veteran batsman also appealed to the government to play their part in improving the sports infrastructure in the country.
It must be noted Pakistan under the captaincy of Sarfraz had won 11 consecutive T20I series and the team had whitewashed Australia and New Zealand recently.
