KARACHI: Pakistan, on Monday, defeated Sri Lanka by 67 runs in the second one day international here at National Stadium, Karachi.
Usman Shinwari took victory defining 5 wickets and Shadab Khan took two wickets. Mohammad Amir, Wahab Riaz and Imad Wasim took one wicket each.
Middle order batsmen Shehan Jayasuria, 93, and Dasun Shanaka, 68 gave Sri Lankan side a fighting chance after their team lost consecutrive 5 wickets. However, after Jayasuria and Shanaka’s dismissals Sri Lankan batsmen could resort to glory.
Babar Azam became the fastest ever Pakistani batsman to score 1,000 runs in a calendar year and scored his 11th ODI century; scoring 115 off 105 balls. Besides Azam, Fakhar Zaman and Haris Sohail remained the other high scorers of the day with 54 and 40 runs respectively.
Wanindu Hasaranga took three wickets while Isuru Udana and Lahiru Kumara took one wicket each.
