KARACHI: Sri Lanka, on Wednesday, opted to bat first after winning the toss against Pakistan here at the National Stadium, Karachi.
Sri Lanka, who arrived on the shores of Pakistan, without some of their regulars, will have to step up to make their presence felt. However, on a positive note, the duo of Shanaka and Jayasuriya stitched a fine century stand down the order. Maybe others can take a cue from the pair’s fighting spirit and raise their game in the crucial final ODI.
Opener Imamul Haq has been left out of the squad due to an injury in his left hand, which he sustained while fielding in the second ODI against Sri Lanka on Monday. Abid Ali has been selected to replace Imam today.
The green shirts have a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. The opening game was abandoned due to rain whereas Sarfaraz’s men picked up a 67-run victory in the second fixture thanks to a 115-run knock by vice captain Babar Azam and a five-wicket haul by Usman Shinwari.
The hosts have a head-to-head advantage over the visitors as they have emerged victorious in 91 of their 154 meetings.
