ISLAMABAD: Pakistan cricket team Captain Sarfraz Ahmed said on Thursday team will try its best in the upcoming International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup 2019 to be played in England and Wales next month.
Sarfraz, speaking to a press conference after arrival of World Cup trophy in Pakistan, said will select best performing players for the WC squad and showed confidence in the middle batting order of the national team.
Skipper said all ten competing teams of WC are strong. He welcomed the idea of bringing the trophy among public and encouraged everyone to come and see the trophy themselves.
Earlier today, the mega event’s trophy arrived Pakistan and was received by Sarfraz. Trophy will be displayed in all four provinces for public viewing after inauguration at Centaurus Mall, Islamabad.
Spectators will be able to take pictures will the trophy on April 13 at Packages Mall, Lahore and on April 14 at the Dolmen Mall, Karachi.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), on April 04, announced names of national players to undergo fitness test ahead of the prestigious event.
According to a notification, fitness test will be conducted on April 15, 16 at the National Cricket Academy after which passing players will be inducted in the final squad for the cricket’s most awaited mega event.
National team will depart for England on April 23 and will play a 5 match one day international series with the host prior to the WC scheduled to begin in May.
Players undergoing the test include Sarfraz Ahmed, Abid Ali, Asif Ali, Babar Azam, Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Sohail, Hasan Ali, Imad Wasim, Imam Ul Haq, Junaid Khan, Mohammad Abbas, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohmmad Rizwan, Shadab Khan, Shaheen Afridi, Shan Masood, Shoaib Malik, Usman Shinwari and Yasir Shah.
