World Cup 2019: England opted to bat first against Afghanistan

MANCHESTER: Host England on Tuesday opted to bat first after winning the toss against Afghanistan at Old Trafford, Manchester.

Comprising one of the toughest squads at this year’s World Cup, favourites England will be without the services of opener Jason Roy who suffered an injury while fielding during England’s win over West Indies on Friday.

For Afghanistan, the biggest disappointment in the World Cup for them has been the inability to score a bigger total to give themselves a chance to put the opposition under pressure.

England will be well-prepared to face the three quality spinners in the Afghanistan squad which can be a threat to the opposition.
