World Cup 2019: England opted to bat first against New Zealand

CHESTER-LE-STREET: England, on Wednesday, opted to bat first after winning the toss against New Zealand in a battle for a place in semi-finals.


For England, the comeback of opener Jason Roy proved to be a turning point as they marked India their first defeat of the tournament on Sunday to get back in the race for a slot in the final four.

On the other hand, New Zealand who were on an unbeaten spree in the tournament, met their defeat at the hands of Pakistan and Australia, losing the games by six wickets and 86 runs respectively.

The defeat of England in today’s game will help Pakistan to secure a spot in the final four.
