PM Sharif’s name not in Panama Papers: PML-N leaders

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders on Thursday said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s name is not in the Panama Papers, and the delay in investigation is not from the government’s side.

The PML-N leaders were addressing a press conference in Islamabad, where Minister of State for Information and Telecommunication Anusha Rahman stated that PM’s name is not in the Panama Papers.

Rahman said that it is saddening that Imran Khan gives a wrong impression after attending hearing. She added that only allegations were hurled and no evidence was provided in the court.

PML-N leader Daniyal Aziz said that the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) also deleted the PM’s name and maintained that the five-page Panama Papers do not contain his name.

Daniyal Aziz said that the PM did not avoid the investigation and since the beginning has been in favour of accountability.

The PML-N leader said that the delay wasn’t from the government’s side for investigation and the PTI chief is wrong in blaming the party for this.

“After all this time since the news broke, Imran Khan remembered to go to Supreme Court on Aug 29,” said Aziz.

The PML-N leader said that the matter could have also been raised on the parliament’s floor.

Daniyal Aziz called Imran Khan “master of runaways” saying that the PTI chief has been running away from his stance as well.

In today’s hearing of the case related to Panama Leaks took up by the Supreme Court, the PM’s lawyer submitted his reply in the court.

The lawyer stated that Nawaz Sharif did not own offshore companies and flats. He added that the prime minister’s name was not mentioned in the Panama Papers and he submits his taxes regularly.
