Army requests SC to investigate, take actions over IHC judge’s allegation

RAWALPINDI: On Sunday, the Inter Service Public Relation(ISPR) requested the Supreme Court of Pakistan to initiate actions over the allegations hurled by the honorable Islamabad High Court judge in connection with manipulation of Judiciary by Country’s premier agency(ISI).

The army media wing also requested the top court to check the veracity of allegations and then take actions accordingly, the statement further reads out.

On Sunday, the Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Saqib Nisar affirmed that the judiciary is working independently and free from any pressure.

The aforementioned remarks were made by CJP while hearing the case at Karachi’s registry.

In his remarks, Chief Justice Nisar further observed, “I read about the remarks of a judge in Islamabad and was deeply saddened”.

“As the head of the judiciary, I assure that we are not under anyone’s pressure,” he said, adding that, “I strictly clarify that we are working freely and not under anyone’s pressure”.

Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui of Islamabad High Court in an address to Rawalpindi Bar Association on Saturday had claimed that certain quarters were interfering in the working of the higher judiciary.

“I was told that if I pass judgments on their directives then the references against me will be withdrawn,” he said, adding that, “I was also assured that I will be made the chief justice of Pakistan in September and not even November”.

Justice Siddiqui further lamented, “Today, even the independent media has cowed down.”
