Arrest of Ahad Cheema sends stir in CM Punjab’s camp, accused sent for 11 days remand

LAHORE: Former Directer of Lahore Development Authority (LDA) and very close to chief minister of Punjab Shehbaz Sharif, Ahad Cheema has been sent to 11 days remand by accountability court on the corruption charges in Lahore Ashiyana Housing Scheme scandal.

On Wednesday, Ahad Cheema was arrested by National Accountability Bureau(NAB) as the former did not comply to NAB summons to appear before accountability court which led to his arrest.

However Punjab government spokesman Malik Muhammad Ahmad responded the NAB had transgressed its powers by arresting Mr Cheema. “There are countless examples in which the NAB has not arrested those who did not appear on summons. The NAB did not follow lawful procedure in arresting a senior government official that is a matter of great concern for the Punjab government.”
