LONDON: Convicted prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz will challenge the Avenfield verdict before Islamabad High Court on Monday, according to the sources.
Talking to the media outside her Avenfield apartment, Maryam Nawaz announced her return to Pakistan on Friday, July 13th along with his father.
Furthermore, the Pakistan Muslim League(Nawaz) leadership in Pakistan headed by Shehbaz Sharif has called upon PML(N) workers to assemble in welcoming their supreme leader Nawaz, on Friday.
The anti graft body National Accountability Bureau(NAB) has already issued arrest red warrants against Maryam Nawaz and Nawaz Sharif, amd reportedly they will be arrested by the officials as soon they land in Pakistan.
On Friday, the Accountability Bureau sentenced Nawaz and Maryam to 10, 7 years of imprisonment respectively for owning assets beyond known source of income.
The father-daughter duo was slapped £8-million and £2-million fines, respectively, in relation to the Avenfield properties reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) last year. Moreover, Nawaz’s son-in-law, Capt (retd) Safdar, received a one-year prison sentence.
All three family members, according to sources, have given their power of attorney to Khawaja Haris — Nawaz’s counsel during the over-nine-month trial in the accountability court —, who will file the appeals tomorrow.
