British-Pakistani boxer Amir Khan has blamed his hand injury and a “lack of communication” for problems in his marital life and taken the full blame for the split with his wife American wife Faryal Makhdoom.
According to ‘standard’, the pair insists that they’ve now “learnt” from their mistakes and have vowed to never repeat them.
“I had my hand injury. I was wrecking my marriage, I wasn’t boxing,” the 30-year-old said.
“Going through the hand injury that I had, not being in the boxing ring, being away from my family, going through a lot of stuff in my life, I think the best place for me is to be in the boxing ring.”
The boxing champion blamed his hand injury for giving him “too much time to think”.
What went wrong was a lack of communication. The way it went public wasn’t nice. I think anger sometimes takes over. We want to make sure all that’s put behind us,” he added.
“It was just a misunderstanding. I was in England he was in Dubai, he thought he was a bit cool in Dubai doing some tweets,” Faryal Makhdoom added.
Khan disclosed how his faith helped him get through the difficult time, giving him perspective.
The couple had a public Twitter spat in 2017 with accusations of affairs flung around by both sides.
