CJP ensures trans-community’s rights protection

The Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) has given surety to the transgender community for protecting their rights in society, during a seminar on Transgender Rights on Thursday.

While addressing the seminar, he deplored people who treated them unfairly and said that “ we need to educate people about transgender rights in the country.”

“We want to secure the rights of trans- community in the same way the rights of men and women are protected, said Nisar, “ I am only one call or letter away to report any injustice towards them.”

Justice Nisar also said that previous court verdicts regarding the community have helped out trans-people in reviving their honour and prestige, will keep helping them in the future to ensure safeguarding of their rights to the fullest.

Earlier in July, Supreme Court of Pakistan ordered the issuance of computerised national identity cards (CNIC) to transgender persons in 15 days ahead of general polls.

In March, the Senate unanimously approved Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Bill, 2017.
