Confusion prevails over Ishaq Dar’s resignation

ISLAMABAD: Confusion has prevailed over the resignation of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, as there are high speculations that Dar might resign following an indictment in corruption references, and issuance of non-bailable arrest warrants.

Many confidential sources within Pakistan Muslim League(Nawaz) have claimed that Dar would resign, as he is not able to discharge his duties.

Ishaq Dar has been in London for quite a while for his medical treatment.

Whereas National Accountability Bureau(NAB) prosecutor had requested Interior Ministry to place the name of Ishaq Dar in Exit Control List(ECL); however the Ministry of Interior is yet to decide.

Amid speculations, different newspaper today published reports claiming that Dar’s removal is imminent as Nawaz Sharif had also conceded to this decision.

Many names are also reported to be revolving around, that who would be the possible adviser of full fledged Finance Minister, which has not been finally decided.

As far, PML(N) has denied the claims, and remarked it to be “non-credible” reports.

However, the PML-N government was under pressure from the opposition parties to assign the task as Dar was unable to deal with matters amid court cases and illness.

The anti-graft body has also moved to put his name on the exit control list, after which Dar ultimately decided to step down.

An accountability court on Nov 14 had issued non-bailable warrants for the embattled finance minister after he once again did not appear in person and sought an exemption due to his ailment through the counsel.
