ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced July 25 (election day) as public holiday across the country, Newosne reported.
According to the notification public holiday has been declared to enable voters to exercise their right to franchise freely and conveniently.
The polls are set to take place on Wednesday July 25 from 8am to 6pm throughout the country.
A total number of 12,670 candidates will running for the 849 general seats of National Assembly and four provincial assemblies.
As per data 3,675 candidates in the run for NA seats, 44 are non-Muslims and 172 are women. According to details 3,675 candidates are standing for 272 general seats of the National Assembly, while 8,895 candidates are in the contest for 577 general seats of the four provincial assemblies.
The ECP data further added that 1,696 candidates will contest from Punjab, 872 from Sindh, 760 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 303 from Balochistan for the 272 general seats of the National Assembly.
