KARACHI: National Accountability Bureau(NAB) on Tuesday arrested former Karachi Port Trust chairman Javed Hanif on allegations of financial corruption and misuse of power.
The former chairman was also accused of illegal appointments which cost the national exchequer 2.8o billion rupees.
The suspect was arrested from his residence for being involved in the NAB inquiry against KPT officials.
According to a statement released by the anti graft body, the former chairman appointed 940 employees in his tenure under the guidance of the then-federal shipping and ports minister Babar Ghauri.
Moreover, according to the NAB statement, a number of those recruited were associate with terrorism.
