“I was never the beneficiary of ‘NRO'”: Asif Ali Zardari

ISLAMABAD: On Sunday, former president of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, said that he was never the beneficiary of National Reconciliation Order (NRO).

Addressing a press conference here at Islamabad, the Pakistan People’s Party Co-Chairman the former president Asif Ali Zardari went on to claim that he had never been a beneficiary of the national reconciliation ordinance (NRO).

The last chief justice had nullified the NRO. So I had to contest the cases in courts, the PPP leader told media persons in Islamabad.”The NRO was used as a publicity stunt by our rivals. Some parties may have benefited from it. But I got the relief through courts.

Ex-President, further asked asked other different parties to act together in taking Pakistan out from the prevalent crisis.

He further remarked   the country going through current woes are due to the Prime Minister-select—– a subtle reference to Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan.

He lambasted the performance by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PT) led government as “incompetent.”

He said that Pakistan was an agro-industrial country, adding its policies should be made accordingly.

We have to ask ourselves. Are we an industrial country? Are we an agro-industrial country? In my view, we are an agro-industrial country.”
