LAHORE: Pakistan cricket team selector, Inzamam-ul Haq on Wednesday announced that he is stepping down from his post in a press conference here at Gaddafi stadium.
The legendary batsmen said that he does not seek an extension from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and thanked the other staff members for supporting him.
Inzamam was lashed by critics as his selected team could not make into semi-finals in the recently held World Cup in England.
I thank the board and other members who respected my choices,” chief selector said.
When asked if he would take on another role in the management, Haq said: “If the board offers me another role, apart from selection, I would consider it.”
He, however, said that the board has not made him any offer as yet.
Inzamam expressed satisfaction over the team’s performance in the World Cup 2019. “We were unlucky to have not qualified for the semi-final but the players gave their best,” he said.
