Martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A) is a lesson for everyone to never refrain from fighting against terrorism, extremism and intolerant ideology and emphasized on promoting affinity and brotherhood.
On this day, we will have to shun our sectarian, ethnic and provincial differences and have to inculcate equality, harmony, discipline and the traits of sacrifice in ourselves. The tragedy of Karbala teaches us the very lesson.
Every year, this day is observed on 10th of Muharram to commemorate the supreme sacrifice rendered by Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his 72 companions at Karbala to uphold the truth.
Hussain (R.A) had to die because he alone refused to live in denial of the fact that Yazid was establishing a tyranny, one that he would not endorse even though a majority of those around him chose to look the other way. The lesson of Karbala is to stand up to oppression and coercion at all times.
President Arif Alvi said the Youm-e-Ashur reminds of the great sacrifices of the martyrs of Karbala which were rendered for upholding the supremacy of truth and Islam.
“The incident of martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) acts as a source of guidance for Muslims to not to refrain even from laying down their lives while fighting the elements of oppression and tyranny,” he said.
Let us pledge on this day to take solid steps in light of ‘Uswah-e-Shabbiri’ which ensures respect for mankind, solidarity of democracy and promoting Islamic values for the development and prosperity of the country.
It is a day when the grandson and family of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) sacrificed their lives in the battle of truth and falsehood and made the lesson of Karbala as a beacon of light for entire humanity in general and for the Muslim Ummah in particular.
This sagacious and sacred occasion of the Islamic history is observed in memory of the supreme sacrifice offered by Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A) and his companions while standing up for righteousness and truthfulness.
From the annals of history, one finds comprehensive message with far reaching effects for Muslims, when faced with forces of tyranny and cruelties as far as their spirit and enthusiasm are concerned.
Youm-e-Ashur is being observed today (Friday) countrywide with traditional religious solemnity and fervour to commemorate the sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), the grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), and his companions at Karbala in 61AH some 14 centuries ago.
