KOHAT: At least 20 people killed when a passenger bus bumped into a oil tanker, leaving more than 18 injured on the Indus Highway near Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Kohat district on Saturday.
The bus was heading towards Karachi from Buner when the oil tanker, coming from an opposite direction, collided against each other killing 14 on the spot, confirmed District police officer Sohail Khalid.
Rescue officials reached on the scene, and shifted the injured passengers to the District Headquarters Hospital Kohat for medical attention, whereas the bodies of the deceased, including two women and two minors, were taken to different hospitals around Malakand for medico-legal formalities.
According to hospital officials, many of the injured passengers are in a critical state, and patients with severe injuries have been shifted to Peshawar for treatment.
An inquest into the accident has been started to ascertain the real cause of accident, however initially it is conjectured to be transpired because of over-speeding.
