LAHORE: Former first lady of Pakistan, wife of deposed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Kulsoom Nawaz to compete in elections, as Pakistan Muslim League (PML(N)) has filed her nomination paper in Election Commission of Pakistan(ECP), Lahore office.
According to TV report her nomination paper was filed by PML)N) stalwarts Dr. Asif Kirmani, Captain Safdar. She will contest elections on the vacant seat of National Assembly of Pakistan 120, which was left vacated as her ousted husband Nawaz Sharif was disqualified from premiership by the Supreme Court of Pakistan under the article 62 of the constitution.
Kulsoom Nawaz will compete against Pakistan Tehreek-e Insaf(PTI) DR.Yasmin Rashid, who has already started her election campaign.
It was earlier reported by the sources, that Shahbaz Sharif, the Chief Minister of Punjab, brother of Nawaz Sharif will fight for NA-120 by-poll and then would be elected as the Prime Minister. But due to his popular presence in Punjab, it was thought by PML(N) ranks to be a bad gamble to make him leave Punjab for the Centre. His stay at Punjab can guarantee victory for PML(N) in 2018 general election, according to the analysts.
