Malaysia’s National Film Censorship Board ban ‘Padmaavat’

Padmaavat has been banned in Malaysia by National Film Censorship Board (LFP), viewing that it might offend the Muslim majority.

The film directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, starring Shahid Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, and Ranveer Singh, was released on 25th January in India after facing much controversies.

The chairman of National Film Censorship Board (LPF) Mohd Zamberi Abdul Aziz qouted Free Malaysia Today that ,“The storyline of the film touches on the sensitivities of Islam. That in itself is a matter of grave concern in Malaysia, a Muslim-majority country.”

However, in Pakistan, the film was given a go ahead without any objections.
