Martyrs of Karsaz offered lives for Democracy: Bilawal Bhutto Zardari

KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Thursday said that the martyrs of ‘Karsaz tragedy’ gave lives for Democracy to thrive in Pakistan.


Accompanied with Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and addressing the party workers, media personnel in Karachi pertaining to the 11th year of Karsaz tragedy , the son of assassinated ex-prime minister of Pakistan—- Mohtarma Shaheed Benazir Bhutto slammed the investigations that were carried out following the tragedy.

However, Bilawal added, proper investigation should be carried out over terrorist attacks. According to Bilawal, evidence collected from the crime scene then were wasted.

He was of the view that public should be kept updated on probe that authorities concerned carry out following such attacks.

On this very day, 11 years ago, 180 precious lives were lost as twin bomb blasts in Karachi targeting the then returning former and first Muslim woman prime minister Benazir Bhutto’s caravan near Karasaz, Karachi.

Benazir, daughter of executed prime minister of Pakistan Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto came back to her country after ending 8 years exile in General (R) Pervez Musharraf dictatorial regime.

However, the attack in Karsaz could not take her life then luckily  as she escaped unhurt.

She was later assassinated in a Bomb Blast, on December 2007 in Rawalpindi after addressing from a political rally in Liaquat Bagh.
