LONDON: Muttahida Qaumi Movement convener based in London Nadeem Nusrat said in a statement issued on Tuesday that the party was nothing without the founder Altaf Hussain.
“The MQM founder gave recognition to Mohajirs,” he said, in an e-mail sent out to the media.
Altaf Hussain is MQM within himself, he added.
The statement comes as MQM Pakistan chief Farooq Sattar has distanced himself and the Pakistan partly leadership with its founder and the London secretariat.
In a press conference held on August 23 Farooq Sattar assumed charge of MQM Pakistan and said that the party will run its affairs from Pakistan, without taking orders from London or the founder.
The top leadership of the MQM based in Pakistan issued statements distancing themselves from the party’s founder and expressing confidence in the leadership of Farooq Sattar.
In the last few weeks pro-Altaf Hussain banners propped up in Karachi and Hyderabad. Earlier, Nadeem Nusrat had denied having anything to do with the banners.
Rangers have razed to ground several MQM offices built on illegal land in the last few days.
