ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Leader Usman Dar, who was a petitioner challenging Khawaja Asif’s Iqama(Work permit) in Islamabad High Court, today congratulated former foreign minister Khawaja Asif on becoming eligible to contest upcoming general elections, adding that the people of Sialkot will seal their fates now.
“We will compete in the court of people in Sialkot now. There will be a tough competition in Sialkot,” he said while speaking to the media outside the Supreme Court on Friday.
On Friday, the Supreme Court of Pakistan has over ruled the Islamabad High Court disqualification verdict against former foreign minister Khawaja Asif, who is now eligible to contest elections, a huge relief for the Pakistan Muslim League(Nawaz) before the General Elections 2018.
Khawaja Asif had challenged IHC verdict before the apex court.
The Islamabad High Court disqualified Khawaja Asif for holding Iqama(Work Permit), as the petitioner Usman Dar from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf contended that former concealed his work permit in the election nomination paper.
A three-member bench headed by Justice Umar Ata Bandial announce the verdict, today.
