PMLN activists booked for leading protest against arrest of Shehbaz Sharif

Lahore: Police has registered cases against more than 150 activists and leaders of Muslim League (Nawaz) who were protesting against the arrest of their leader Mian Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday.


According to police, a case has been registered against 150 PML-N workers in Civil Lines Police Station Lahore.

MNA Waheed Alam and MPA Mian Marghoob Ahmad along with other 150 unknown activists of PML-N are among those who are nominated in the case.

On Saturday, an accountability court granted the anti-graft body—-National Accountability Bureau (NAB), a 10-day physical remand of opposition leader, former Punjab Chief Minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif in the Ahsiana Iqbal Housing Scheme case.

Younger brother of deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif, who was arrested by NAB on Friday in the Ashiana Iqbal Housing Scheme case, was produced before accountability court Judge Najmul Hasan.

The former Punjab chief minister was represented by counsels Azam Nazeer Tarar and Amjad Pervez.

As Judge Najmul Hasan arrived in the courtroom, several PML-N workers were present owing to which he summoned Shehbaz, his lawyers and the NAB prosecutor in his chambers. The entry of unrelated persons and media coverage had been barred inside the accountability court.

On Friday, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested former chief minister of Punjab, Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) president Shehbaz Sharif in ‘Ashiana Housing Scandal Scheme’

According to Newsone, the PML (N) president and former Punjab chief minister Shehbaz Sharif was arrested as he appeared before the NAB headquarters in Lahore pertaining to Saaf Pani case.

Earlier today, Shehbaz was produced before the sourt amid charged PML(N) workers protesting against the arrest.

Heavy contingents of Rangers have been deployed at the Accountability Court.

The accountability watchdog had alleged that Shehbaz Sharif had misused his authority during his tenure as Punjab chief minister and was involved in corruption.

Shahbaz’s blue-eyed officers, Lahore Development Authority former director general Ahad Cheema and Fawad Hasan Fawad, are already in NAB custody in the Ashiana Housing case.
