PML(N) leadership lashes NAB over Shahbaz’s arrest in Ashiana Housing Scheme

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader Marriyum Aurangzeb on Friday has termed arrest of PML-N chief Shehbaz Sharif by NAB as revenge tactic.

Addressing a press conference in Lahore she said that NAB arrested Shehbaz Sharif without issuing any notice or warrant.

She added that arrest of PMLN chief is attack on democracy, adding that opposition leader Shehbaz was arrested without taking Speaker National Assembly into confidence which is against the rules and laws.

Former Punjab CM had dedicated his life to the prosperity of the nation, she added.

Maryam Aurangzeb further said that arrest of PML-N chief ahead of the by-elections shows that the government is scared of the PML-N.

Commenting over Shehbaz arrest Rana Sanaullah said there was no proof that the owners of Ashiana Housing lured general public to invest their money in the scheme on the promise to allot them plots on their investment.

Not even a single penny from the national exchequer was used to pay for the Ashiana Housing Scheme.

Reacting to the arrest of Shehbaz Sharif, the Punjab information minister said that this is the first arrest, adding that more arrests are about to be made.

On Friday, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) nabbed former chief minister of Punjab, opposition leader and Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) president Shehbaz Sharif in Ashiana Housing Scandal.

According to media reports, the PML (N) president and former Punjab chief minister Shehbaz Sharif was arrested as he appeared before the NAB headquarters in Lahore.
