ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf on Monday filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family for allegedly owning offshore accounts named in the Panama Papers.
The petition states that Panama Leaks have become a concern for the entire public. It adds that money from Pakistan has been illegally stashed away in offshore accounts.
The petition calls for the court to place the Prime Minister’s name in the Exit Control List.
PTI leader Naeem Bukhari, explained the petition will now be sent to the Supreme Court registrar who will decide if a hearing will be held for it. “The petition has been prepared keeping in mind prime minister’s May 16 speech,” he said.
The PTI has called for the disqualification of the Prime Minister, his son-in-law and Ishaq Dar.
“We are representing the public in court,” he said, adding that the PTI’s petition is different from that of the Jamat-e-Islami.
Prime Minister told lies on floor of the house. How did you take money out of the country, he raised a question.
It is a case of money-laundering, he said.
Naeem Bukhari posed confidence in the current Supreme Court. He said that this Supreme Court is not like the old one.
The petitions addresses the interior ministry, National Accountability Bureau, Law Ministry and Federal Bureau of Revenue.
