PTI’s Shahzad Waseem defeats PMLN candidate in election for Senate vacant seat

ISLAMABAD: On Wednesday, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s  Dr Shahzad Waseem was elected to the Senate  after he narrowly defeated  Pakistan Muslim League(Nawaz) Khawaja Ahmed Ahsan in the election held in the Punjab Assembly.


Dr Shahzad Waseem bagged 181 of the total 351 votes cast, in return, Ahsan’s tally stood at 169; one vote was rejected.

Following PTI’s Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar resignation before taking charge as the governor of Punjab, the seat became vacant.
