Remembering revolutionary poet Habib Jalib on his 25th death anniversary

Web Desk: Habib Jalib born on March 24, 1928 was a most celebrated Pakistani revolutionary poet of 20th century.


The 25th death anniversary of revolutionary poet Habib Jalib is being observed today across the country.

He was awarded with Nishan-i-Imtiaz and Nigar Awards. He migrated to Pakistan after the partition of India and worked as a proofreader for Daily Imroze of Karachi.

His famous collections include Ser-e-Maqtal, Zikr Behte Khoon Ka, Gumbad-e-Bedar and Kulyaat-e-Habib Jalib.

Jalib was jailed several times but was resilient when it came to his poetry. His poems Dastoor and Musheer are still as still as popular as they were when he recited them for the first time.

He was a progressive contributor of trade union struggle and convocations for democracy.

He died in Lahore on 12 March 1993.
