Shehbaz irked over ‘deal’ question posed by reporter

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz)President  and ex-chief minister of Punjab Shehbaz Sharif was irked on Wednesday when a reporter questioned him about party leader Rana Mashhood’s statement during an interview a day earlier.


When the reporter asked about a possible deal of Sharif family with the military establishment, Shehbaz responded “Please ask questions which make any sense.”

The PML-N president appeared before an accountability court in Islamabad and was questioned by reporters regarding Mashhood’s statement outside the court premises.

Responding to the questions, Shehbaz asserted, “The party has clarified its stance on Mashhood’s statements.”

On Tuesday, the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) aide and considered to be close to PML(N) president Shehbaz Sharif— Rana Mashhood claimed that the matters between the Sharif family and the establishment are resolved.

In an interview to a private television channel on Tuesday, the PML(N) aide also said that the establishment is disappointed that Shehbaz— who is the opposition leader in the National Assembly could not become the prime minister of Pakistan in recent elections held last July.

He further went on to claim that Shehbaz played a vital role in ending differences between military establishment and the embattled Sharif family, who are facing corruption cases.

Ex-Education Minister, Rana Mashhood also said that it is mutually agreed that the institutions will work within the parameter of constitution in accordance with the role assigned to them.

Erstwhile Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif took the reigns of PML(N), since his elder brother and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was disqualified from holding party and public office owing to corruption charges filed by National Accountability Board on the orders of Supreme Court of Pakistan.
