Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, on Wednesday, while addressing to a gathering here at South Waziristan called Bilawal Bhutto Zardari “Bilawal Bhutto Sahiba” inviting sea of criticism from political parties and social media users.
The statement passed by the PM was: ” I have come in politics after a lot of struggle, not like Bilawal Bhutto ‘Sahiba’.”
This did not go well for many politicians as the PM was accused to pass misogynistic comments.
From Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) to Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), their respective leaders slammed PM Imran for using alleged sexist remarks.
Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari responded from his twitter personal account:
What was that about small men in big offices? #PMSelect

“What was that about small men in big offices”? in a direct jibe aimed at Imran, Bilawal once again called Imran, the PM ‘select’.
Opposition leader in the National Assembly and Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) president, Shehbaz Sharif also slammed a cricketer-turned-politician and current leader of the house.
This is beyond words. It’s Shameful. Unbecoming. Reprehensible. The selected PM is clearly unfit for the job. Sad day for Pakistan! https://t.co/9PdY9d8KrK

Maryam Nawaz also criticized Imran censuring the statement as “Odious”.
Absolutely disgusting. Odious. https://t.co/Xe5KIJ7rPw

Prominent Journalists and TV anchors also took exception over the remarks.
What a lewd & misogynist thing to say. How shameful that our PM trots around like a high school bully amid cheering fans not realising that calling BBZ a woman exposes his character as opposed to demeaning the other. Can he stoop any lower while shaping #NayaPakistan? https://t.co/doatLdqRSA

Poor and misogynist statement by pm against @BBhuttoZardari calling him sahiba . We don’t expect this kind of language from anyone and off course PM

Silly statement. Pak needs competent rulers, not raving clerics. And certainly not a PM who responds to criticism by cracking cheap misogynist jokes (re: “Bilawal Sahiba”). Come on Mr. PM, after 66 years, one would’ve expected you to get over your fragile, insecure masculinity. pic.twitter.com/1okXy9ToFA
