Supreme Court disqualifies two PMLN senators for holding dual-nationality

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Wednesday disqualified two Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) senators for holding dual nationality.

Larger bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Saqib Nisar directed the Election Commission of Pakistan to de-notify Saadia Abbasi, the sister of former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, and Haroon Akhtar as members of the Parliament.

The court held that both the PML-N leaders possessed foreign nationality at the time of submission of their nomination papers for the Senate election held in March this year.
