Supreme Court indicts PTI MNA Amir Liaquat Hussain in contempt case

ISLAMABAD: On Wednesday, the Supreme Court of Pakistan indicted TV anchor and MNA Aamir Liaquat Hussain in a contempt of court case.


A two-judge bench comprising Justice Ijazul Ahsan and Justice Umar Atta Bandial heard a contempt of court case against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA and rejected his apology which he rendered unconditional.

I seek an unconditional apology and leave myself at the mercy of the court, Liaquat said during the hearing.

I have also apologised before, the TV host added.

However, Justice Ijazul Ahsan remarked, We had set today as the date for indictment and the time for apologies has passed.

The court then indicted Hussain under article 204(3) of the Constitution. The MNA pleaded not guilty to the charges.
