Taliban’s treatment of women will mark ‘red line’: UN rights chief

The United Nations Rights Chief Michelle Bachelet has voiced grave concern at the situation in Afghanistan saying Taliban treatment of women would mark a fundamental red line.

Speaking before an emergency session of the UN Human Rights Council on Afghanistan in Geneva, she urged the Taliban to honour commitments to respect the rights of women and girls, ethnic and religious minorities, and refrain from reprisals.
