Oscar winning music composer A R Rahman is all set to turn film producer after this year. He states he always took keen interest in process, but has no plans to call for up direction like Vishal Bhardwaj.
“Our inaugural production is nearly ready to cast. It’s in Hindi. I would be there to manage it. We have chalked out a wonderful team to assume care of the film production,” said Rahman
“I know it sounds like a heavy responsibility, and it is! I think Vishal Bhardwaj made that successful transition from music to filmmaking before me. But let me tell you, I have no plans of directing films like Vishal. That would need my full attention, which I am in no situation to afford right now.”
He takes in film production as a natural progression in his life. “Music is most of the time a part of the optical medium.
I’ve been using up a great involvement in the music videos for my songs. Other than that I’ve forever been a curious student of film.
“Whether it was Mani Ratnam or Danny Boyle whom I played with in my musical capacity, I was constantly asking them questions about filmmaking. It was only a matter of time before I became seriously involved in the procedure of making motion pictures,” said Rahman
