The Nigerian military says it recognizes where the young women kidnapped by Boko Haram are but will not undertake a saving.

Nigeria’s defense chief had frustrating news for the kins of the nearly 300 schoolgirls who were kidnapped by Boko Haram and have been missing for nearly six weeks.

Abuja, says an intermediary met leaders of the Islamist group and saw the station where they were being taken.

He says agreement almost reached to release 50 of the girls in exchange for the release of 100 Boko Haram prisoners.

The missing young women are thought to be somewhere in the woodlands of northeastern Borneo state, near Chad and Cameroon.

The Nigerian government pulled out of the deal after President Goodluck Jonathan attended a group discussion on the crisis in Paris.
