Quake of magnitude 6.1 strikes China’s rugged Xinjiang: USGS

SINGAPORE: An earthquake of magnitude 6.1 hit China’s far western region of Xinjiang on Thursday, the U. S. Geological Survey said.


There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties from the quake, which struck 51 km (32 miles) south of the city of Shihezi, at a depth of 55 km (35 miles).
